Ravichandran Ashwin's shock retirement from Test cricket reportedly stemmed from being benched during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy opener in Perth. Rohit Sharma convinced Ashwin to delay it and he was included in the eleven for the the pink-ball Test in Adelaide. But his subsequent exclusion from the match in Brisbane seemingly finalized his decision.
